Q: What is Strummin?

A: Strummin’ is an annual live music concert which features a guitar choir which strums along to popular songs accompanied by a band and singers. The project involves a great number of volunteers taking up roles of organizers, singers, guitarists, backstage and crew. Throughout the years, the concert has helped charities such as Puttinu Cares, Richmond Foundation and Suret il-Bniedem Foundation whilst being a launching platform to Maltese talent. This year’s proceeds will go to Dar Frate Jacoba” which offers a home for youngsters coming from difficult social backgrounds.

Q: How can I apply?

A: Applications for anyone interested in joining Strummin’ as guitarists, singers and crew are now open. Applications may be submitted at www.strumminartists.com/apply

Q: What ages are accepted to participate?

A: Any age! That’s what makes the event even more interesting!

Q: When will the concert take place?

A: 4th and 5th November

Q: Can I get recognition for participating in Strummin?

A: Yes, for those of you who are in Secondary School and want to be able to have your participation in Strummin’ reflected in your school leaving certificate, ŻĦN is now registered with the National Commission for Further and Higher Education Malta. University Students can get recognition for participating in Strummin’ through DegreePlus.

GUITARIST FAQs

Q: When is the deadline to apply?

A:

1. SINGERS & BACKING VOCALISTS: Saturday 5th June


2. GUITARISTS: Friday 24th June


3. CREW: There is no particular deadline associated to this, but please make sure to apply by the end of October.

Q: Can I play my electric guitar?

A: While we welcome all guitarists of all levels into our show, we need everyone to play the acoustic guitar. If you would like to try out for an electric guitar solo (there will be auditions), you must also be part of our acoustic guitar choir.

Q: I am a beginner. Can I still play?

A: YES! We will do our best to help you improve your strummin’ skills and get you into strummin’ shape in time for the concert!!!!

Q: Where’s the song list?

A: We will give you a book with all the chords to the songs in the keys we’ll be playing when rehearsals start.

SINGER FAQs

Q: When is the deadline to apply?

A: The deadline is the 5th June! So what are you waiting for? Apply nowwwwww!!!!

Q: Will there be an audition?

A: Yes!

Q: When will the audition take place?

A: Audition dates will be published soon.

Q: Where’s the song list?

A: We will give you the list of songs together with the instructions, dates and times for the auditions later this month!

Q: Can I be a backing singer but not a soloist?

A: Yes, although auditions for backing singers will be the same as for soloist singers.

CREW FAQs

Q: When is the deadline to apply?

A: The application will be open the production week which will be in the last week of October.

Q: What does it involve?

A: Never say never to volunteers! Every year Strummin’ relies on the valuable work of volunteers which involves ushering, selling tickets at the door, selling raffle tickets, bar, stage set up, backstage crew, helping out in fundraising activities, and much more.
